Online & In-person in Texas
Anxiety doesn’t have to be the best friend you never wanted.
Anxiety comes out every day and makes everything you want to do harder than it needs to be. You feel this pit in your stomach, your heart starts pounding and just thinking about leaving the house, participating in activities or enjoying time with people you care about makes you feel physically sick. You’re exhausted before you even get started for the day.
Friends and family try to be supportive but the things they say to encourage you make you feel worse. Talking about how you feel makes you more anxious so you often end up suffering with this overwhelming feeling in silence. The feeling of panic and likely even panic attacks have become something you don’t think will ever go away. You feel stuck with this anxiety and while you have found ways to survive with this feeling, it’s getting more intense by the day.
Does this sound familiar?
The belief that no one likes you or they hate you and people who are nice to you only do it out of pity. How could anyone really truly like someone like you?
Activities others around you enjoy cause you anxiety and fear.
The feeling that you are constantly drowning, with no water involved. Like you take deep breaths but you still feel like you aren’t getting any air.
Making plans ahead of time and then canceling as it gets closer to actually going.
A never ending feeling of dread or impending doom.
Constantly overthinking, fidgeting, worrying, crying, feeling unsettled and exhausted.
Avoiding activities you wish you could attend because of the fear of how you will react once there.
You always try to imagine what life without anxiety would be like but at this point that feels like a fantasy. Trying to figure out what to do or where to start to conquer your anxiety seems more overwhelming than just getting through the day the way you are now.
Is there really a way for this to get better?
How therapy for anxiety can help
Your day starts with a plan and you have the confidence that you can accomplish what needs to get done. Leaving the house your focus is on where you are headed and what you are about to get done. Throughout the day you feel proud of the things you are working on and capable of doing more. At the end of the day you are able to wind down and go to sleep in preparation for the next day.
Spending time with others is something you plan and enjoy on a regular basis. Other people enjoy their time with you and you know how much your support system and friends care for you. You don’t question your worth to others because you have developed strong relationships where you are regularly there for each other.
You trust in your ability to manage your emotions when things get a little crazy. Effective coping skills are your go to way of handling life's most stressful situations. Asking for help from your support system is a regular thing for you when things feel overwhelming and you can’t figure it all out on your own.

No! Anxiety can come out in many different ways and can look different for each person. It can also stem from many different sources. Anxiety can be generalized where it is difficult to identify one source of the anxiety. A phobia is anxiety that will result from a specific object, situation or activity. OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) is recurring and uncontrollable thoughts, engaging in repetitive behaviors or a combination of the two. PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) typically happens after a scary, dangerous or even shocking event that leads to anxiety. As you can see, anxiety can look very different for each person and therapy for each person will look different as well.
